After securing enviable success in hero and character roles in commercial films, young actor Jayasuriya is now all set to prove his acting capabilities in non commercial ventures.

The actor who is presently in the sets of ‘Nallavan’ in which he is donning a complex character's three life stages, will soon start acting in a T V Chandran film.

Jayasuriya is quite happy to be a part of the movie from this renowned director who will cast him in double roles in his movie.

Jayasuriya had earlier appeared in another art house production 'Patham Nilayile Theevandi' which was well appreciated by the critics.

Tamil movies have seen many actors from North India -- heroines, supporting artists as well as villains. The latest entrant is Milind Soman. After doing an impressive role in Pachaikili Muthucharam, Milind Soman is making a comeback through Lingusamy Paiyya and Parthiban's Vithagan.

I am an actor and I go where my work takes me. Language and geography are immaterial. What matters is the role I get and the character I play,the handsome actor said to a leading English daily.

Acting is just one of the things I do and though I enjoy it tremendously, it is not the only thing that defines me. I have several other interests, including my fitness and gym ventures, my production house and my television commitments. I may do four films a year and two the next and perhaps none the year after. I like to work at my own pace because temperamentally that what suits me most,he added.

Vishal Bhardwaj’s Priyanka Chopra starrer film Saat Khoon Maaf is set to be different and unusual, a movie about polyandry and passion.

Priyanka’s character in the film will have seven husbands. Her youngest husband will be played by Naseeruddin Shah’s son, Vivaan.

Interestingly, Naseer himself will be playing Priyanka’s oldest husband.The film is currently shooting at Coorg and Priyanka will begin shooting once.

She returns from Delhi after receiving the National Award from President Pratibha Patil.Vishal chose Vivaan for the role after he saw him and thought he would do justice to it. As of now, Vivaan has no acting plans.

While it would seem strange to cast both father and son as Priyanka’s husbands, Vishal is confident he wants it that way. Imaad, Vivaan’s older brother, confirmed.

The news that his brother is doing a Vishal Bhardwaj film but stated that he didn’t know what role Vivaan would be playing. At present, no details about the film are being leaked.

The list of actors playing Priyanka’s husbands in the film is Naseeruddin Shah, John Abraham, Irrfan Khan, Anu Kapoor, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Vivaan Shah and a Russian actor whose name hasn’t been revealed.

Vijay is wrapping up his 50th film ‘Sura’ soon and will immediately start his next. There were enough speculations as to who will direct Vijay after ‘Sura’. There were three names of prominent directors doing the rounds. ‘Jayam’ Raja had already narrated a story to Vijay and was ready to roll. Another one was Siddique who influenced Vijay for a remake of his recent super hit in Malayalam ‘Bodyguard’. Siddique was the one who gave the evergreen comedy hit ‘Friends’ for Vijay.

Meanwhile director Lingusamy was also in the fray. Now the murk is settling and things are clear. Lingusamy is doing a film with Silambarasan and so he may not have the dates for Vijay. Vijay is so impressed with ‘Bodyguard’ and wants to do the Tamil remake as quickly as possible.
So where does that leave ‘Jayam’ Raja. Raja says “It’s for sure that I am doing a film with Vijay for Aascar Films. But it has not been decided whether that will be immediately after ‘Sura’ or otherwise.”

So it is doubly confirmed that Vijay will act under the baton of Raja.

Last week Sruthi Hassan who has relocated to Mumbai was in Chennai for one of her endorsements.

During her stay in the city she met up with director AR Murgadoss and music director Harris Jayaraj, the people behind her first film in Tamil with Suriya.

The buzz is that Murgadoss gave her a narration of her role in the film which she was quite impressed. Sources close to the director says he wants her to sing all the songs that will be picturised on her.

Sruthi has very good vibes with Harris. Remember she sang the hit number Adiye Kolluthu… with Krish in Vaaranam Aayiram, Harris’s last film with Gautham Menon?

Now in all probability, Sruthi will act and sing her own songs under the baton of Harris Jayaraj, for Murgadoss.

Mani Ratnam has officially announced that the music of his buzzing film 'Raavan' will be launched in April. The film is also almost complete and will release in June according to the direct sources.

Sources also say the songs have come out great under A R Rahman and they will be in perfect harmony with A R Rahman's international success. And A R Rahman has never failed in a Mani film.

‘Raavan’ will be released in June simultaneously all over India in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi versions. Sources also said Mani Ratnam has retained the title 'Raavan' for all the version and Tamil version will not have the striking 'Ashokavanam' as heard before.

With enviable star cast of Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Vikram, Prithviraj and others ‘Raavan’ is one of the biggest and most expected movies of the year.

The music launch is expected to have on dais not only Aishwarya Rai but also Abhishek Bachchan in Chennai.

Raavan is a Hindi film written and directed by Mani Ratnam set to be released in 2010. It stars Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Vikram in the lead roles while Govinda, Ravi Kishan, Nikhil Dwivedi, and Priyamani play key supporting roles. It is simultaneously being made in Tamil as Raavana with a slightly different cast. The music of the movie is composed by Academy Awards winner A.R. Rahman. The film will also be dubbed into Telugu and other regional languages. The audio will release in April 2010. Movie Will be released in June. The audio rights are bought by T-Series.

Super director of the south Mani Ratnam has decided to re-shoot the parts played by Ranjitha in his new movie 'Raavan'. The actress who got into trouble with the recent video scam with a yogi, had been in a pivotal role in the multi-starrer.

Mani Ratnam has shot majority of her parts but since the actress could not be reached over in her mobile in the last few weeks, the crew has ultimately decided to re-shoot the entire parts with another actress. This will incur some more cost for the producers and will also delay the release of the movie for some more days. 'Raavan' will feature Abhishek Bachchan, Aiswarya Rai, Vikram and Prithviraj in key roles.

The Tamil and Telugu remakes of Kannada blockbuster Aptha Rakshaka (2010), a sequel to the 2004 blockbuster Apthamitra (remade in Tamil as Chandramukhi) are making headlines every now and then!

A few days after we heard from reliable sources that reigning Tamil-Telugu heroine Anushka would be the heroine opposite Victory Venkatesh in the Telugu version, tentatively titled Chandramukhi 2, to be made by Bellamkonda Suresh of Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Productions. Insiders now say that the makers have roped in four more heroines, including Priyamani, Sraddha Das and Sneha.

According to reports, Bellamkonda Suresh is also planning to hire a palatial mansion in Bangkok to shoot this movie to be directed by P. Vasu, the original director. Popular music director Koti, who attended a special preview of Apta Rakshaka, has reportedly agreed to score music for this flick. Set in a horror backdrop, the film will start rolling in May.

Ravi Teja seems to be going great in 2010. Ravi Teja already had ‘Don Seenu’, ‘Veera’ and ‘Mirapakaya’ as his future projects. Don Seenu is being made under the direction of Gopichand Malineni and is being produced by RR Venkat under RR Movie Makers. His ‘Veera’ is being directed by Ramesh Varma and produced by Ganesh Indukuri and the other project ‘Mirapakaya’ is being directed by Harish Shankar and is being produced by Ramesh Puppala under the banner ‘Yellow Flowers’.

Shruthi Haasan who is currently busy with Siddharth, K. Prakash film in Telugu has now bagged an offer in A R Murugadoss film in Tamil opposite hero Surya.

Praising the actor Surya, Shruthi says “I am happy to be part of the project and I am a big fan of Surya. He is one of the powerful actors we have today and I am thrilled to share the screen space with him. I guess we will make a great pair. I am eagerly waiting for the film to go on floors.”

Denying the rumors of her relation with Siddharth she says, “We are good friends and he is a nice co-star. I learnt a lot from him. But there is no truth in reports that we are in love with each other.”

It is known that Allu Arjun’s new film, ‘Badrinath’ has been recently launched. The mega banner Geeta Arts is making this film with Allu Aravind as producer. The film is said to be a huge budgeted one. The latest news is that the art director, Anand Sai is constructing a huge set for the film that costs about Rs. 3 crores.

Tamannah is playing the female lead in the film. Badrinath has technically strong members with V.V.Vinayak as director, Chinni Krishna as the story writer, MM Keeravani as music director, RD Rajasekhar and Anand Sai as art director. The movie will hit the floors very soon.

Pawan Kalyan’s new film under the direction of Jayant C.Paranji has been launched today at Taj Krishna, Hyderabad. The movie is the remake of Saif Ali Khan’s bollywood film ‘Love Aaj Kal’. K.Raghavendra Rao, Murali Mohan, Dasari Narayana Rao, Daanam Nagendar, Botsa Satyanarayana etc graced the event.

The movie will be produced by Ganesh Babu under the banner, Parameswara Arts. Bade Ravi will co-produce this film. While Trivikram Srinivas is penning the lyrics, Mani Sharma will score the music for the film. Other details of the cast and crew of the film are yet to be revealed.

Nagarjuna’s under shoot film, under the direction of Radha Mohan is currently progressing at Hyderabad. Earlier the film was titled as ‘Payanam’. However, the film-makers are now said to be considering ‘Gaganam’ as its title. The movie is being produced by Dil Raju under the banner Matinee Entertainment Pvt. Ltd.

The film has Nagarjuna and Anushka in the lead roles. Nagarjuna will be seen as a powerful police officer and Prakash Raj will be seen as a terrorist leader in the film. The first schedule of the film was earlier completed in Kulu Manali and currently second schedule is under progress at Hyderabad. The film is being touted as an action thriller which is being made bilingually in Telugu and Tamil versions.

Last year she was seen in just one film – Hollywood’s “Pink Panther”. But this year Aishwarya Rai has four films lined up for release – two southern projects “Ravana” and “Endhiran” as well as “Action Replay” and “Guzaarish”, collectively costing over Rs.300 crore (Rs.3 billion).

While her bilingual sci-fi film “Endhiran”, starring southern star Rajnikanth, is said to be made at a budget of Rs.125 crore (Rs.1.25 billion), approximately Rs.45 crore (Rs.450 million) has been spent on Mani Ratnam’s much-awaited “Ravana”, which is set for a June release.

Vipul Shah’s “Action Replay” costs around Rs.60 crore (Rs.600 million) and if reports are to be believed, UTV is shelling out close to Rs.80 crore (Rs. 800 million) for Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed “Guzaarish” for which Aishwarya is currently shooting along with Hrithik Roshan in Mumbai.

Aishwarya has been busy shooting all these films for the past one year and even suffered health problems due to her hectic schedules.

According to a well-placed source from the team of “Ravana”, the Hindi version of which also features Abhishek Bachchan, the actress has given some of the most difficult shots in the movie without complaining about geographical or weather conditions used to can the scenes.

“Aishwarya’s role in ‘Ravana’ is the toughest. In the Hindi version, Vikram (southern star) plays Ram and Ravana in the Tamil vesrion. And Aishwarya plays Sita in both the Hindi and Tamil versions. Both the versions were simultaneously shot. Mani Ratnam canned the film in the most difficult and dangerous places. Still Aishwarya gave the same shots twice for the two versions – be it in the rain, on mountains, jungle, etc,” a source told.

“People say Vikram’s role in the film is the toughest, but the actor himself feels Aishwarya’s role is the most difficult,” the source added.

While shooting for “Ravana” in the jungles of Kerala, the entire cast and crew had a scary experience when an elephant ran amok and killed a 51-year-old mahout, Andavan. The actors including Abhishek, Aishwarya, Vikram, Prabhu and Munna had to take shelter in a guest house and survived on bread and eggs.

“Ravana” is said to be a modern-day version and a loose adaptation of the Hindu epic Ramayana.

Apart from “Ravana”, Aishwarya’s role in another southern project “Endhiran” has been a well-guarded secret till now, but some leaked photographs of the film’s shooting show her in a different avatar.

“Action Replay”, starring Akshay Kumar, is a time-travel tale in the 1950s and its storyline is based on an eponymous 1994 Gujarati Indian play. The director has emphasised a lot on the lead actors’ “retro looks” in the movie.

“We, Akshay’s designer Shabina Khan, Aishwarya’s designer Manish Malhotra and all of us have worked really, really hard to give ‘Action Replay’ a unique look. If that look is leaked out, we’d lose our biggest USP,” Shah had told.

In “Guzaarish”, the actress will play a married nurse who falls in love with a paraplegic patient essayed by Hrithik.

Though each role is different from the others, it remains to be seen which one of these strikes gold at the box office.

Varun Sandesh’s film for Sankranti will be directed by Kadir who made Prema Desam. AR Rehman will give the music and it is being produced by Sudhakar, of Sri Maha Ganapathi Films. The film, tentatively being titled Jai Ho, will roll on August 15th.

Priya Anand who has debuted with the film ‘Leader’ in Telugu film industry will be soon seen pairing opposite Siddharth. The film is a bilingual one which will be made in Telugu and Tamil versions. The Tamil version of the film is titled as ‘Putham Pudhu Kaalai’ while the Telugu version is not yet titled.

This project is being directed by Jayendra and will be produced by Kiran Reddy of ‘Sathyam Cinemas’ and C. Srikanth of ‘Aghal Films’ jointly. KT Balasubramaniem will crank the camera for the film. The movie is said to be shot on the RED one camera. The film-makers are planning to take the film on to floors in the month of June.

Ram and Ileana are all set to pair up for their upcoming movie titled Tom & Jerry will be going to sets in the month of March. Surendar Reddy who gave super hit movies like Athanokkade and Kick will direct this movie. Surendar before his project with Mr.Perfect with Mahesh Babu would go on with this movie. This movie is produced by Sravanthi Ravi Kishore under Sri Sravanthi Movies banner, more details on this movie is expected shortly.

Ileana who has been enjoying the position of one of the top actresses of the telugu film industry is said to be charging a remuneration of Rs.1.10 crores. The hot actress has been roped in for a film under the banner ‘Sravanthi Movies‘ with Sravanthi Ravi Kishore as the producer. Young hero Ram is playing the male lead in the film. Surender Reddy who has given a blockbuster hit ‘Kick’ in 2009 with Ileana is directing this film also. The movie is tentatively titled as ‘Tom and Jerry’ and Ileana is said to be charging a whopping sum of Rs.1.10 crores for 65 days of shooting. Ileana has also been roped in as a brand ambassador for Big C and Enamor.
